CREATIVE MIND

Great that you take a look at my website! I am Suvi, a passionate and experienced graphic designer based in The Hague where I moved 2008 from Helsinki, Finland. I have built up a wide-ranging experience in the field of visual communication (offline & online) during 20 years of working in several design agencies in Finland and in the Netherlands.

My designer’s experience covers the entire design process from the analysis to conceptualizing and the final outcome. I believe that the form should follow the function and that the user experience should be the focus point. Which often comes down to 'less is more' – the user should not be unnecessarily mislead or confused. I absorb my inspiration from the daily life urban surroundings but also from the geniusness and complexity of the nature.

Study

I discovered my interest and talent in visual expression already during my high school years. Encouraged by my art teacher, I decided to go for a study where I could develop my visual expression skills further. I studied four years in Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences, where I graduated as a Graphic Designer 2001. Since then I've been practicing this great profession with pride and joy.

Career

My fourth study year included a practical training that I performed at Konsepti Advertising, internationally operating and successful business-to-business agency located in Helsinki. After recommendations of numerous colleagues, I got my first job and was hired as graphic designer by Konsepti Advertising. I worked there with much pleasure till I moved to the Netherlands 2008.

After settling down in The Hague I started as a graphic designer at a local company Aveq Communications. Two years later I got an opportunity to work as a graphic designer and junior art director at Do Company, Rotterdam, where I worked the following three years. My responsibilities at both agencies included the entire design process and also managing my own projects.

My next challenge took place at Shell headquarters where I worked two years in a team as an adviser and focal point for queries related to the Shell's brand. When accepting this position I knew that it meant stepping for a bit aside from the graphic designing, but I was willing to miss this unique opportunity. I have no regrets; I learned much of the chance to monitor close by how one of world’s the most recognized brands is managed in a huge global scale.

Since Shell, till now, I work as a graphic designer at Brandcode, which is part of Aveq Group. I missed the creative side of designers work too much and I'm now happily solving diverse visual queries daily!
